Dementia Education Center
Since our founding, Hale Ku’ike has worked to bring the Hawaii community together to improve dementia care. We remain committed to helping family caregivers and professionals and understand dementia and improve dementia care in Hawaii.
Positive Approach® to Care (PAC) is a nationally-recognized dementia care training program. Hale Kūʻike uses their award-winning care strategies and care techniques to provide dementia education to staff, volunteers, resident families, and the public.
Our dementia education workshops and webinars are free and open to all. Hear from our very own Positive Approach® to Care Certified Trainer, Dorothy Colby. These workshops can provide essential information on how to have a positive and meaningful relationship with loved ones living with dementia throughout their journey. By understanding the brain and the effects of memory loss on your loved ones, you’ll walk away with a greater understanding of how to be a better, more compassionate, more effective caregiver.
We partner with community organizations to bring free dementia education opportunities to as wide an audience as possible. We currently partner with:
- Catholic Charities Hawaii
- Alzheimer’s Association Hawaii
- Project Dana
- AARP Hawaii
- Healthcare Association of Hawaii
- Olelo
- University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine
- Executive Office on Aging – Hawaii State Department of Health
